How do I enter the competition? Are there any restrictions?
US residents at least 6 years of age can be eligible to participate in Wii Games: Summer 2010. Each player under 18 years of age must have a parent or legal guardian sign the player’s registration form at the event location (forms should not be signed before you arrive). Children between the ages of 6 and 12 can only participate as part of an parent-child team or a family team.

  • People in the New York City area can be among the first to participate in Wii Games: Summer 2010 by attending a major kick-off event on July 16 at New Jersey’s Liberty State Park. View all event locations.
  • Qualifying events will be held at select Six Flags theme parks beginning July 16 and select shopping malls across the country starting July 23. Find a qualifying event in your area now.
  • Nintendo will also host an online sweepstakes to give additional participants a chance to compete at the grand championship event. Learn more about the sweepstakes.
How do I register a team?
The team captain can register your team online now or register on site at one of the nationwide events. The team captain must be 13 years of age or older.
How can I find an event?
Visit the event locator for the full line-up of nationwide events.
What do I do if my event is no longer accepting online registrations?
Don’t sweat it! Online registrations do close shortly before each event BUT we’ve tried to leave a good number of slots for teams in each category to register onsite at each event. So be sure to come out to join the fun! Note: these slots are first come, first serve.
How do I register for events happening at participating Six Flags locations?
If you want to register for an event at a Six Flags location, you’ll need to do it on site. Head to your nearest Six Flags theme park and register in person! Registration is first come, first served. See participating Six Flags locations.
What happens when I arrive at the event?
If you’ve already registered online, you’re half way there. Event staff will print your badges and show you to your first competition area. Register online now.

To register at the event, simply work with event staff to enter your team details at a kiosk, grab your badges, and start competing.

What happens to my contact information?
Phone numbers, email addresses and any other personally-identifiable information are used solely for sending Wii Games: Summer 2010 event information and contacting winners. For children under the age of 13, first name and age will be the only information required.
What if there isn’t an event nearby?
If you can’t attend one of the events in person (and you are at least 13 years old) enter the sweepstakes for your chance to compete at the national championship event.
How does the sweepstakes work?
If you’re interested in participating and can’t attend a local event, enter the Wii Games: Summer 2010 sweepstakes for your chance to compete at nationals. Six winners will be selected randomly. Each winner will get a trip for four to attend the event. However – each winner is not required to assemble a team of four to compete in the family category. Instead, each winner can select which category they would like to join. Example: Winner and three guests travel to LA, and only two of the travelers compete in the teen category. Enter the sweepstakes.
How do I play each game?
In Wii Sports Resort basketball, a single team player will play three rounds of the 3-point contest activity.

In Wii Sports Resort bowling, a single team player will bowl 10 frames.

In Wii Fit Plus, a single team player will complete the Hula Hoop® activity.

In New Super Mario Bros. Wii, all members of a two- or four-player team will play a special cooperative coin battle level together. Each team will attempt to clear the level while at the same time trying to collect as many coins as possible.

In Mario Kart Wii, a single team player will race in the time trials of the Mushroom Gorge race track against the standard ghost.

How does scoring work?
A scoring system has been designed to ensure parity between all five competition games. Every game is single-player except for New Super Mario Bros. Wii, in which all members of the team will play together (regardless of 2-player or 4-player team). Teams will select individual members to compete on a specific game. No two team members will play the same game (again with the exception for New Super Mario Bros. Wii) and each team member must play at least one game.

  • In Wii Sports Resort basketball, a single team player will play three rounds of the 3-point contest activity. Each round’s score will be added together, then multiplied by 25 to create a game score. A participation bonus of 1,000 points is automatically added to create the final official team score for the game.
  • In Wii Sports Resort bowling, a single team player will bowl 10 frames. The competitor’s final bowling score will be multiplied by 10 to create a game score. A participation bonus of 1,000 points is automatically added to create the final official team score for the game.
  • In Wii Fit Plus, a single team player will complete the Hula Hoop activity. The competitor’s total number of rotations multiplied by 10 to create a game score. A participation bonus of 1,000 points is automatically added to create the final official team score for the game.
  • In New Super Mario Bros. Wii, all members of a two- or four-player team will play a special cooperative coin battle level together. Each team will attempt to clear the level while at the same time trying to collect as many coins as possible. The points score at the end of the level will be multiplied by 10 to create a game score. A participation bonus of 1,000 points is automatically added to create the final official team score for the game.
  • In Mario Kart Wii, a single team player will race in the time trials of the Mushroom Gorge racetrack against the standard ghost. A game score will be calculated using an incremental time-to-point ratio table. The table starts with a minimum course time of 2:45:000 and guarantees the player 125 points. If the course is completed between 2:45:000 and 2:26:000, each second counts as 50 points. If the course is completed between 2:25:000 and 2:01:000, each second counts as 75 points. If the course is completed between 2:00:000 and 0:01:000, each second counts as 100 points. A participation bonus of 1,000 points is automatically added to create an official team score for the game. Each player’s time in minutes, seconds and milliseconds (M:SS:XXX) will be recorded, but only the minutes and seconds (M:SS) will used to calculate game scores. Milliseconds may be used in tiebreaker situations, if required.

No two team members will play the same game (again with the exception for New Super Mario Bros. Wii) and each team member must play at least one game.
